I wish I had the HTML files from the first few websites I created in 1997, so I could share them with the world today. Sadly, they are lost in space. Having small touches of colour makes it more colourful than having the whole thing in colour.

Is typography an art? That’s like asking if photography is an art. Certainly there are photographers and typographers whose ideas and techniques raise their work to the level of art. But at their core, both photography and typography perform a utilitarian function. The aesthetic component is separate. Being an effective typographer is more about good skills than good taste.

Excellent read. Not just for startups. Deiter Rams’ name has been popping up so much around me lately. His “10 Principles of Good Design” are enough to take away from this site even if you don’t read any further than that.

Design is a Universal Language
I just finished some production work for the Vietnamese, Korean and Chinese Easy Voter Guides. I only changed the text from one language to another; nothing glamorous, but it’s always interesting working in multiple languages.
